My Story
I grew up in southern California but now live in Mapleton Utah with my husband and one-year-old daughter. Inspired by my mom and my home state of California, I’ve been drawn to healthy eating for as long as I can remember.
My passion for cooking began during the Covid Pandemic. After my first semester of college, I realized I hardly knew how to cook . Moving back home, I spent hours in the kitchen each day experimenting and making healthy meals for my family. My family and I frequently look back on that time as one of the happiest.
A couple years later, I became ill and was diagnosed with Lymes disease and mold co-infection. Though it was an extremely challenging time, I am grateful for this experience and the invaluable knowledge I gained from it. My understanding for nutrition deepend as I learned to use food as medicine and support my physical and mental wellbeing in such a strenuous time.
During this fundamental shift, I learned what it truly means to nourish our bodies. I learned that sourcing carefully produced foods, harmonious with mother nature, is essential. As it all begins and ends with the soil.
Cooking nourishing meals for my family and friends is my love language. My cooking style is casual, family friendly, and reinforces the value of knowing your farmer and your food. My goal is to demonstrate that eating healthy is more than delicious, as using quality ingredients enhances the natural flavors of each meal. When you cook in harmony with the seasons and source foods from animals which have been raised as nature intended, you get superior, nutritious meats and produce at it’s peak. Thus, there is no need for elaborate recipes to create something delicious, keep it simple and let the ingredients shine. I hope the recipes I share encourage others to cook from home, source quality ingredients, and prioritize our food and our health.
You can most often find me in my kitchen, working in my garden, or shopping at local farms. I am currently in my undergrad studying nutritional science and dietetics at the University of Arizona. I am constantly learning, researching, and diving deeply into the science of health and nutrition. As the food we consume profoundly influences every function in our body—shaping who we are.
